Smart label startup Sensos raises $20 million Series A

Smart label startup Sensos has secured $20 million in Series A funding. The round was spearheaded by Mitsuibacked Magenta Venture Partners with additional investment from JAL Ventures,Israel Cargo Logistics, and Sumitomo Corporation. This Israeli startup, which began as a spin-off from Sony Semiconductor Israel in 2022, uses globally-connected labels to digitize supply chain operations.

Sensos’s impactful labels are about the size of a credit card. They provide real-time, 6-dimensional shipment data without requiring further installation. This breakthrough technology alerts operators regarding shipment movement, arrival and departure times, restricted area intrusion, and self-checking inventory. Moreover, it provides real-time updates on temperature, pressure, tilt, and shock, ensuring containment conditions meet product requirements or stringent regulations. The sensor also identifies when a package is opened or closed, which supports automatic proof consumption and tamper detection.

The startup also devised the Control Tower Platform to process millions of data points into actionable supply chain alerts. Sensos’ original prototype had been utilized by German Pharmaceuticals firm Bayer in collaboration with Kigen and Vodafone. This prototype has been purchased by companies such as DB Schenker among others.
