Virtual reality startup Moonhub has successfully raised $1.4 million in a funding round designed to enhance its immersive on-the-job training platform. The funding round was led by Unconventional Ventures, Danish venture capital firm, alongside Pi Labs and Ada Ventures.
Before this successful round, the London-based venture had collected a total funding of $3.1 million since its inception in 2016. Dami Hastrup, Moonhub’s co-founder and CEO, confirmed the business model involves offering client-specific, customised training scenarios, primarily for facilities management and security industries.
Moonhub’s innovative solution involves creating a storyboard around the training content, creating a unique production plan filmed on-location, from which content is uploaded onto VR headsets. The startup has garnered notable traction from clients in the security and dementia care sectors and has also coupled up with numerous corporate clients.
Hastrup shared the success factors behind Moonhub, which revolve around the unique offering that allows people to complete their corporate training through VR. He also shared his professional journey, reflecting on his past retail experience, which revealed inefficient training models that spurred him to simplify these processes. He is confident that products like Apple’s Vision Pro headset could amplify the use cases of VR within corporate settings.
With the newly acquired funds, Moonhub plans to expand its commercial reach and further develop its existing training resources.
