Georgia’s bustling tech and startup scene is propelling Atlanta towards becoming the ‘Silicon Valley of the South.’ A combination of affordability, job availability, and tax-favorable policies are enticing thousands of Americans to relocate to Georgia, leading to cities like Atlanta emerging as fertile grounds for tech and startup innovation.
Atlanta bears a comparison to the famous Silicon Valley, according to Dr. Noze Best CEO Christy Brow. The city is nurturing a concentration of billion-dollar startups, attributing its success to a business-friendly tax structure and minimal government regulation. CEO of Flock Safety, Garrett Langley, praised Georgia for its favorable business climate, regardless of the fact that it lies within a politically purple state.
The city’s success extends well beyond its startup scene. Tech behemoths like Google, Microsoft, and Apple are all expanding their presence with new offices in Atlanta. The growth of Georgia’s startup scene can also be attributed to Venture Atlanta, one of the nation’s largest venture capital conferences.
Venture Atlanta’s work has resulted in approximately $15 billion in successful exits for startups, as well as fostering a healthy ecosystem for businesses. The organization’s CEO, Allyson Eman, describes Georgia as highly pro-business: “We want to see companies grow here. We want to build here.”
In addition to the tech scene, the film industry is also gravitating towards Georgia, with the state reporting $4 billion spent on film production in 2023, boasting a significant shift from Hollywood.
