Midlothian AI startup WriteHuman is among eight companies chosen to take part in the latest accelerator program operated by Lighthouse Labs. WriteHuman is a platform which enhances AI-generated text, aiming to make it sound more natural and less robotic. The startup was founded by a local entrepreneur, Ivan Jackson.
WriteHuman allows users to build off of work created by AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT. The company’s innovative program adjusts the text to sound less robotic and evade detection tools that might reveal that the text was AI-produced. According to Jackson, the main selling point of WriteHuman is its ability to elevate AI writing, making it more engaging and ‘authentic’.
In terms of business model, WriteHuman has several paid subscription tiers as well as offering limited free access. Jackson stated that the service currently has fewer than 2,000 paid subscribers, and 200,000 monthly users. He further described it as popular among marketers and individuals writing in English as their second language.
Jackson conceived the idea for WriteHuman amidst the booming interest in AI technologies such as ChatGPT. The WriteHuman platform was introduced as a subscription service in late August after the launch of the website the previous month.
Excited by the opportunity to be a part of the Lighthouse Labs accelerator program, Jackson hopes it will provide him with the necessary knowledge to assemble a team to further develop and scale WriteHuman. Jackson also works as a product consultant developer at GCOM Software.
It’s also noteworthy that WriteHuman is the only locally based venture included in the 16th session of Lighthouse Lab class, which begins March 4 and runs until mid-May. Companies that successfully navigate the 11-week program are awarded $20,000 in equity-free funding along with weekly educational opportunities and mentorship.
